Yes Mr Patterson it’s what all us anime fans do when someone said’s that magic word anime or you meet new people who love the same thing you do 🙂

Sadly there are people in this world who will never understand our love for japanese animation or the huge fandoms that come with it, and  when they want to start a war with you over the topic go tell them to drown themselves…..

Lita evil Heh Heh

For the record yes I’ve said that to people in the past who have tried to make fun of my interests, I’ve never let them bother me which what made me think about a certain question that I wanted to ask you readers and to those who follow me, as I am very curious to know:

What does anime mean to you?

This question is a very personal to any anime fan and anime means something different to everyone.

Anime to me is a life love and probably will be for the rest of my life, I am so glad I was introduced to this world as it’s the reason I met some amazing friends who loved the same thing as I am someone that has never had friends, got introduced to cosplay was able to express my love for certain characters I loved and gave me something much more entertaining to watch then boring average TV. It never mattered what anime I would watch it would put a smile on my face when I was feeling the lowest of low, and make me forget about reality.

We all know reality can suck times >.<

It is like a big slap in the face >.>

Anime is just amazing to make you escape reality, I love that feeling it lets me feel like a little kid and allow me to believe in the impossible. I’m sure any anime fan would have felt like that at some point you can’t hide it from Lita. Anime was my safe haven where I knew I could be my real self, in certain anime’s I learnt certain life lessons that you can’t be taught and mainly makes me happy when I think about it.

It gave me excitement in my life and I believe that is just what anime does to everyone. 🙂

Yay okay Lita… enough of your real mushy talk…..lol

  1. I got into anime by accident. At first it was because I wanted to see what it really was since I had the thoughts that a lot of people did of it. It was and still is a major form of entertainment for me. Now it seems like it is sort of one of my inspirations that help me get ideas for stories seeing stories that I typically would not see day to day. It really helps to see things differently. It might be a little weird to say, but anime changed me into someone that is not quick to judge like I used to be.

  2. Anime is my escape route from reality,it portrays some human characteristic which I want most of people to have. Anime has taught me the that the is humanity. Everyone has good in them not matter how small. Even the villains who are misunderstood have friends. The is such a thing as love, just keeping on looking for your Eureka. Anime is small portion of who I am. Anime means happiness.

  3. I’ll spare the long story, but my getting into anime meant incredibly detailed animation, varying genres, in depth stories and adventures, and some of the best characters ever. As much as it’s an escape for me, anime also means creativity and the idea that there’s always something new to discover and love for yourself. It’s just like any media:books, TV shows, music, cartoons. Just all in one. Simply better ~

  4. For me, it is just a part of life. Since I was a toddler, I’ve been watching anime. It can be just as great as any other form of entertainment, if not better in certain aspects. The best thing about it is that there is one anime for everyone, from kids to elders. They can be stories of love, self-discovery, comedy and even philosophical thought.

  5. A great post that makes for good discussion. I completely agree with you that anime can be a great source of life lessons. As for what anime means to me, I guess it’s a way of life for me. I’ve been watching anime ever since I can remember. I have to thank (blame?) my parents for that. So I guess you can say that watching anime is as normal as brushing my teeth everyday for me. Not only is anime a safe haven for me, just like you said, but it’s also a form of relaxation and in many cases, a form of release of my pent-up emotions. I really don’t remember a time when I haven’t been watching anime. My dad watched a lot of anime as a kid, so I’m pretty sure that I was already watching anime even before I could walk and talk.

  6. I guess anime is idealistic and optimistic at its core which is why I am drawn to anime. Still the most key thing that attracts me to anime and I do believe it is like an attraction is that it makes me try to empathize with others. In real life, when I am out and about with everyone this is something that I lack. I cannot often comprehend people’s intentions or motives. So much gets misunderstood but with anime all the characters intentions are easy to decipher based on their easy to read expressions though anime.

For me it makes me believe I can someday let go of all my anxieties in life. The fear of the unknown but also in the meantime anime is helping me to understand myself better and maybe even others. That might be weird but I want to strongly understand people better despite me feeling uncomfortable about the prospect. Though don’t get me wrong I would never crave connection with others, I do, at least want to understand others somewhat since sometimes I think I cannot even do that.

    • From many situation I find it hard to empathize with people unless it’s for a genuine reason. I am kind of the edge when it comes to that so I understand where you are coming from

  7. Anime is a transition and a choice of life for me. I find it hard to explain it here but I think I am inspired to do a long post about this because I can’t put it in a small amount of words 😀 heheh I think I may very well write about this next!! :p
